An experiment that became Lilliput Dorset Gin - Our story
Lilliput Dorset Gin emerged from my desire to create a product that captured the invigorating spirit of summer on the Dorset coast, escaping from the daily dramas of life back to something just a little more real, the simpler, refreshing and timeless beauty of life on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset.
When we started Lilliput Dorset Gin in January 2017 it was very much an experiment, we had no idea if it would work, if we could launch a product or a business, and like all great experiments failure was always a very real option. We're sure that great success stories are made from many failures, our challenge is to learn quickly and adapt, we're loving the process and continue to see where things go - we hope we'll become another one of Dorset's great success stories. Distilled with pride in Dorset
Lilliput Dorset Gin is distilled with pride in Dorset at our micro distillery Lilliput, from our very own home-grown organic Rosemary, organic Basil from Egypt, organic Thyme from Spain and organic fresh water fermented Kalamata Olives from Greece. For us, it's this combination of tastes and aromas that evoke the feeling of being by the coast and best capture our desire to escape to the beautiful Dorset coastline.
Bringing Lilliput Dorset Gin to life
Our rosemary, basil, thyme and olives are all infused separately in a grain spirit to ensure we capture each of their individual distinctive flavours and aromas, we then combine these separate infusions together with our own unique blend of botanicals including our most predominant, beautiful wild foraged Juniper from the mountains above Sarajevo in Bosnia.
Finally, the most exciting part of the process, distilling Lilliput Dorset Gin in our beautiful traditional copper pot stills. We've decided to keep our production processes quite traditional and small scale for now, this is helping us perfect the art of distilling the most beautiful products. If you love us as much as we hope we'll grow and evolve.
The perfect serve
Lilliput Dorset Gin is best served in a large copa de ballon glass filled with fresh water ice, gently blended with a premium light tonic, garnished with a large sprig of fresh rosemary, a wedge of lime, a Kalamata Olive and finished off with the fresh spray of lime squeezed over the top of the glass.
We know so many of our customers are passionate about the right tonic, we find that light premium tonics work best with Lilliput Dorset Gin. Our recommendation is Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic as it emphasis beautifully our Rosemary, Basil, Thyme and Olives, but we know you'll make your own choice.
